How The Medical Mamas Started
After working bedside during the pandemic, Shayna saw a huge void in the basic education parents had on how to manage common pediatric ailments at home, and understanding when to seek professional guidance and medical care.
With a passion for education and empowering parents to be their child's voice in the hospital, she married the two and developed The Medical Mamas. Being a mother herself, Shayna felt like there is no better feeling as a parent than to be able to advocate for her children in the healthcare setting and feel confident in the medical decisions she was making for her children. She had a strong urge to provide the knowledge she has gained over the years, along with her passion for encouraging parents to trust their guts, and decided it was time to take a leap of faith and start this business. She now has the privilege of teaming up with other nurse mamas to teach families how to do just that.

Founder | Pediatric Nurse
Shayna grew up in Orange County, CA. She met her then boyfriend, now husband Taylor at the young age of 15 & they later married in 2016. Together, they have two young children, Riley and Brayden.
Shayna graduated nursing school from Saddleback College in 2015 with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and began her career as a nurse in an adult cardiovascular unit. While working in that unit, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Chamberlain University. Six months into her career working with adults, she realized her heart was leading her to work with the littlest warriors & she applied to a pediatric multi-specialty medical unit at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) shortly after.
Shayna got hired into the CHOC Medical Unit in 2016 where she spent 5 years as a bedside nurse before pursuing an opportunity to work on the Float Pool unit where she was exposed to every unit hospital wide, including all the Intensive Care & Subspecialty Units. After a year on Float Pool & continuing to pursue her dreams, she recently got hired onto the Vascular Access Team, a highly specialized unit of nurses who staff the entire hospital putting in IVs, central lines and arterial lines utilizing ultrasound guidance. Shayna is thrilled to be sharing in her knowledge and education with parents & care givers to help equip & empower parents in the event of a pediatric emergency.
