  • Shayna Babb, BSN, RN, CPN

    Shayna is a seasoned pediatric nurse with multi-specialty pediatric experience at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). She currently practices within the Vascular Access specialty unit at CHOC and is a proud mother to her two children, Riley and Brayden.

Our Story

Shayna started The Medical Mamas because she saw a void in medical emergency preparedness among families. As a nurse, she often finds that her casual conversations with family and friends have become dominated by medical questions, seeking out her expertise and sharing concerns on how they wish they felt more confident in their knowledge of basic emergency care for their kids and loved ones. That's when it hit her. Why not share the medical knowledge she's gained with others on a broader scale?

I am a mother of an amazing 3 year old and was adamant on taking a class that would prepare me for the unthinkable. I took Shayna's class back in February 2023, and not even 3 months later, I found myself in a situation with a 6 month old choking in a public setting. The baby got ahold of a large piece of a candy wrapper and was not getting oxygen.
